What Clients & Attorneys Say
Thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I want to start off by saying that being a lawyer is not just what I do, it’s “who I am.” I’ve always been fascinated by the law, however, I finally decided to go to school to become an attorney when a family member of mine became embroiled in the legal system. I witnessed how helpless she was against the “Goliath” she was fighting. I, also, felt helpless. With little money and not being an attorney myself at the time, there was little I could do. That is when I decided to go to law school. It is a decision I’ve never regretted.
I knew when I graduated law school I wanted to help those who were less fortunate and could not afford an attorney, so I became an assistant Public Defender for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit, in Sanford, Florida. While there, I gained invaluable experience as the lead attorney on thousands of cases. As an assistant Public Defender, I defended those who were unable to defend themselves and did not have the money to hire an attorney on their own. After only 4 years, I was promoted to Misdemeanor Chief, responsible for training new attorneys as well as managing and assisting them in the office and in the courtroom. During my time at the Public Defender’s office, I was very passionate about defending my clients’ rights and was often referred to as the “true believer” by colleagues and judges alike.

After 7 highly rewarding and successful years with the Public Defender’s office, my 16-year old niece was tragically and suddenly killed in a car accident. My world was turned upside down. This traumatic experience has had a lasting effect on me, and it was then I decided to focus my vocation on helping the injured and their families. That is when I started my own personal injury law firm with my brother. After 9 years as a partner at Jaspon & Armas, P.A. I established my own law firm, ANDI’S LAW, where I continue to help the injured and fight for their rights against the “Goliath” insurance companies.
My academic credentials include a Jurist Doctor degree with honors, from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, FL, and a Bachelor of Science, with Distinction, in Legal Studies from Nova Southeastern University.
I take great pride in my professional achievements and the results I have gained for my clients. Not only have I fought against the biggest insurance companies in the United States, but against some of the biggest corporations and companies as well. Most importantly, the passion that inspired me to become an attorney in the first place has only grown over the years. I continue to be known as the “true believer.” I treat each case as if it were my own. I know what it’s like to feel helpless in the often-complicated legal world, and I have seen firsthand the importance of expert, experienced legal representation. I have personally tried over 150 jury trials to verdict as lead counsel and I have assisted in dozens and dozens of jury trials as co-counsel assisting other attorneys. I have reached favorable outcomes for thousands of my personal injury clients, and I would be honored to represent you if you are need of assistance.
I practiced law under my birth name Andrea Armas, and recently changed it to Andrea Povilaitis, after marriage.
